When Samuel told the prophecy that someone will take Saul’s kingdom, Saul was very discouraged. After David defeated Goliath and other enemies, people started looking at David as a mighty warrior and they did not pay much attention to Saul. After this, Saul started getting jealous, and he figured out that David was going to be the person who would take his kingdom. Ever since then Saul have been pursuing David to try to kill him. One day while David is running far away from the kingdom, he hides in a cave. Then his enemy Saul comes to the same cave and sleeps. David, seeing Saul, could have killed him, but he waited for God’s time instead of his own. We as Christians must be always yielding to the plans of God. Here David could have killed Saul, and he would have been the next king – but he withheld. We as Christians must always follow the ways of God through self-control. Let us be yielding to the plans of the Lord and follow His calling for our lives – not our own.
