After God told Moses that he would not go to the promised land, Moses died on Mount Nebo. Before Moses died, he appointed his most trusted aide Joshua to be the next leader of Israel. Joshua was a great man of God who helped the Israelites defeat the enemies that were in Canaan. Joshua stopped at a place called Shechem, and here he reminded the Israelites of all the miracles and wonders that God did to care for them. Joshua started to get disappointed when most of the people decided to worship other gods instead of the real God. Joshua told the Israelites that it is time to make a choice in choosing to worship other gods or the real God. Joshua made a stand as a leader saying one thing is guaranteed that his family will serve the Lord. We as Christians must be able to take a stand like Joshua to keep God’s kingdom first in our lives instead of the worthless gods and idols of this world. Let us as Christians have the courage to stand up for God’s service despite the temptations and pleasures of this corrupt world.

Joshua 24:15
And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
