In verse seven, Paul extends his greetings toward the saints in Rome. Rome was the capital of the Roman Empire that was spread over most of Europe, North Africa, and the new East. At this time, Rome was experiencing their own golden age. The city was wealthy, literate and artistic. Rome was filled with many cultures, but they were very immoral. The Romans worshiped many pagan gods, but the apostles of Christ stuck to the one true God no matter the circumstances.

Romans 1:7
7 To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be his holy people:
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
