The Blog
Christians, in Rome, had to deal with the Romans’ dependence on military strength. Many Romans believe that to take any means in completing a task was good, and their most-used means were physical might and strength. The Romans trusted their strong military to defeat any opposing force that stands in their way. As Christians, we have the privilege to have trusted protection from our heavenly Father. In verse eight, Paul uses the phrase “I thank my God through Jesus Christ” to emphasize the point that Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and humans.
Romans 1:7-8
7 To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be his holy people:
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world.
