In verses six to thirteen, Paul basically reiterates on the unification problems in the Corinthian church. In verses fourteen and fifteen, Paul explains how he is doing this for their good and then talks about guardians. In Paul’s day, a guardian was a slave who was assigned as a special tutor and caretaker of a child. Paul was portraying his special affection for the Corinthians and his special role. In an attempt to unify the church, he describes himself as a father. By father, he meant he was the church founder. Paul’s tough words were motivated by love- like the love of a good father to his children. We talked about how to judge the right way. Christians should be able to admonish the ways of the wicked out of love for sparing them from the future fate they will encounter.

1 Corinthians 4:14-15
14 I am writing this not to shame you but to warn you as my dear children. 15 Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.
