Posted by Jonathan Merigala God’s promise (through Joel) that Peter quoted on the day of Pentecost was: “Upon my bond-slaves, I will pour out my Spirit” (Acts 2:18).
A bond-slave is one without any rights. To be a bond slave is to let God have total control over your life. It means that we allow God to deal with us exactly as he wishes without any complaints from our side.
Being filled with the Spirit, Jesus said, was very similar to drinking water. Paul uses the same picture in 1 Corinthians 10:4 and 12:13. Just as in drinking water, you have to open your mouth and swallow, even so in being filled with the Spirit, you have to open every part of your heart and receive in faith.
Whenever we ask God for anything according to his will, we must believe that we have received what we have asked for.
So we must surrender every area of our lives to the Lord and then ask him in faith to fill us with the Holy Spirit.
Then thank God that he has heard your prayer.
Keep thanking God and ask him to give you an assurance that he has filled you.
