In verses ten and eleven, Paul talks about the divisions in the church. Paul saw the danger of these divisions and arguments. The Corinthian believers’ lack of unity was obvious. The problems were not as much differences in opinion as divided allegiances. They were mainly arguing over which position or theology was more important. Divisions between Christians work like cement walls and barbed wire fences to undermine the effectiveness of the gospel. Jesus has a divine purpose for each one of us. As a church and as the body of Christ, we must strive for peace and harmony. We must keep our different viewpoints and perspectives aside in order to effectively convey the gospel to everyone we encounter.

10 I appeal to you, brothers and sisters,[a] in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. 11 My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you.
