It is discouraging to continue to do the right thing and receive no word of thanks or any tangible results. Paul challenges the Galatians and us as well to keep striving to do good and to trust God with the results. In due time, all of us will reap a harvest of blessing.

Some of the Judaizers were emphasizing circumcision as a proof of holiness but were ignoring the other Jewish laws. People often choose a certain prohibition or principle and make it as a measure of faith. Some people may condemn drunkenness but ignore gluttony. Others may despise sexuality but tolerate prejudice. Some may abhor homosexuality but ignore child abuse. This describes one of the greatest blunders of many Christians.

Sometimes as Christians we tend to make ourselves superior in moral terms by pointing the faults of other people. We sometimes will do whatever it takes to justify our judgement toward other people by naming some sins tolerable and others as despicable. Thus, we indirectly measuring an individual’s faith. The Bible in its entirety is our rule of faith and practice. We cannot simply pick and choose the mandates we will follow.

Galatians 6:9-13
9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
11 See what large letters I use as I write to you with my own hand!
12 Those who want to impress people by means of the flesh are trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. 13 Not even those who are circumcised keep the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your circumcision in the flesh.
