We see how there used to be great ships for transportation of people and merchandise. Some areas of the world still do this type of transportation. We always see at the end of the boat, there is a big anchor. The ship’s captain puts down the anchor near the shore, so it can keep the boat steady. The anchor cleaves to the ocean floor, and it brings the boat to an immediate spot. Even when there are mighty gusts of wind and ferocious waves, the ship stays stable.

In the Christian faith, the Bible acts as an anchor. The Bible shows us the teachings of Jesus and the way Christians should act. When we obey the commands and teachings of Jesus, it is like throwing the anchor of a boat. When we throw the anchor of God’s word, despite the gusts and ferocious waves, we will be able to stable to the path of righteousness without the obstacles pushing us in the wrong direction.

Hebrews 2:1

For this reason we must pay closer attention to what we have heard. Then we won’t drift away from the truth.
