The only way to preserve ourselves in this paganistic society is by constantly pressing on and increasing in the virtues of Christ.

During our lifetime, I would encourage you to present yourself frequently to God and ask Him to judge you.

He certainly will not be checking on your doctrinal accuracy. He will ask, however, whether you fought against pride, selfishness, the love of money etc… and strove to love others.

Jesus was both a Lion and a Lamb. When it came to matters relating to God’s glory and the purity of God’s house, He was like a fierce lion when He drove out the money-changers in the temples, and when He rebuked the Pharisees who were exploiting the poor in the name of religion.

But when it came to matters relating to Himself (crucifixion), he was like a Lamb – silent.

He is the greatest example we can follow.

Most believers, however, are exactly the opposite – they are like lambs when God’s name is dishonored and when there is compromise in the church, but they are like lions when anyone irritates them or insults them.
