The Corinthian church was in turmoil because of the immorality of the culture around them. Some Greeks, in rejecting sexual immorality, rejected sex and marriage altogether. The Corinthian Christians wondered if this was what they should do also. Paul wanted to tell us to be content in the spot God has placed you. If you are married, don’t seek to be single. If you are single, don’t seek to be married. We must live God’s way, one day at a time, and he will show you what to do. One of the prominent problems of our current society is broken relationships. The divorce rate is increasing more than any other year. This starts when individual people decide to pursue their “soul mates” to fulfill their desires, rather than trusting in God’s plan for their lives.

1 Corinthians 7:8-11

8 Now to the unmarried[a] and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do. 9 But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
10 To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. 11 But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife.
