In verse 18-21 it basically talks about the walls of Jerusalem made of jewels which will be a place of durability. In verses 22-24 it says that there will no longer be a temple. The temple was the primary place of worship for the Israelites. No temple will be needed in the new city because God’s presence will be everywhere. God will be the light in the new Jerusalem. Light represents everything that is good, pure, and holy, and darkness represents what is sinful and evil. Just as darkness cannot be with the presence of light, so sin cannot exist in the presence of a Holy God. The city will be completely free of evil and sin, and we will be able to worship our God without being hindered.

Revelation 21:22-24
22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.
