After wise men went back to their homes, Mary and Joseph had to leave their home. When the wise men told King Herod about a new king, King Herod was infuriated. King Herod wanted to kill this new king because he was worried that someone would take his place. King Herod ordered that all babies two and under should be killed. That night, an angel warned Joseph saying that he and Mary must escape to Egypt.

The thing we must learn is we cannot change God’s plan. King Herod’s plan was to kill the Son of God because he thought that he would take over his earthly kingdom. Even though, king Herod was cruel, mean, and evil, he could not stop the plan of redemption through Jesus Christ. People will try to make up their own plans and try to take control of things, but nothing can stop God from doing what He wants. We do not have to rely on our limited intellect and smarts, but we can rely on the perfection of God the Father to give us the best options in everything we must do in life.

Matthew 2:13

When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”
