Balak, the king of Moab, was worried that the Israelites would defeat his army in battle just as they had defeated their neighboring country. Balak sent Balaam a prophet, to go and curse the Israelites to discourage them. While Balaam was traveling to the Israelites, his donkey suddenly stopped moving. The prophet was mad at the donkey and started to beat him and yell at him for not doing his job. There was an angel right in front of them; the donkey saw it, but Balaam did not see it. The donkey started talking and at that moment the Balaam saw the angel and repented of his future act of cursing the Isrealites.

In our lives, we must remember as Christians that God’s word will always bring us back to the righteous way. Even Balaam, being a prophet of God, still fell away from the truth, but he repented. We always strive to follow God’s word in life and when we fall away, God is always there to forgive and bring us back to the purpose he has for our lives.

Numbers 22:30
The donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?”
“No,” he said.
