In verses ten and eleven, Paul talks about the foundation of the church. The foundation of the church -of all believers- is Jesus Christ. A building with no foundation or one poorly constructed will not last. A building is as solid as its foundation. The foundation of our life is Jesus. He is our spiritual base, the reason for living. Everything we are and do must fit into the pattern Christ provides. Are we building on the only real and lasting foundation, or are we building on a faulty foundation, such as wealthy, security, fame, or success? Jesus is referred to as the “cornerstone”. Cornerstone is basically “the rock” meaning everything relies, depends on, and functions upon the rock. We should be grateful that we have a foundation that is available to us that is everlasting, and the only one that will stand. Christ is our only hope and refuge within the storms of life.

1 Corinthians 3:10-11
10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
