When Paul’s letter was read in the Roman church, there was no doubt that there was a mutual agreement to the fact of condemning idol worshippers, violent people, and homosexual practices. But when Paul stated that the Romans were just as bad, the listeners must have been surprised. Paul was emphasizing that nobody is good enough to save himself or herself. It does not matter, if you are a murderer or a philanthropist, you will go to hell unless you rely on God’s grace. Paul is not discussing whether some sins are worse than others. What he is saying is a single sin is enough to take you away from eternal life with God.

Romans 2:1
2 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.
