Posted by Jonathan Merigala To be a Jew meant you were in God’s family, and you would be an heir to all His promises. In this passage specifically Paul explains how membership into God family is based on internal qualities not what is simply on the outside. All hearts that are right with God are real Jews, which is being part of God’s family. Submitting to the rite of circumcision was not enough for the Jews. Attending church or being baptized is not enough for Christians. God desires our heartfelt devotion and obedience. Until we submit our hearts to Christ, we are not part of the family of God.
Romans 2:28-29
28 A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. 29 No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.
