In verses seven to eleven, Paul recalls the stone tablets on which God had written the old covenant — calling it “the ministry that brought death” alluding to what he explained earlier.

He identified the law, although leading to death, as glorious because it was God’s provision and proof of His intervention in the life of our people. But what was summarized on the stone tablets is nowhere as glorious as what came with the life in the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit was present at the creation of the world as one of the factors in the origin of life. He is the power behind the rebirth of every Christian and the one that gives us 24/7 spiritual advice and counseling. By this power through the process of sanctification, we will be transformed into Christ’s perfect likeness when He returns.

2 Corinthians 3:7-11
7 Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was, 8 will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? 9 If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! 10 For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. 11 And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!
