In verses five and six, Paul talks about how God has chosen a remnant by grace. Many churches who follow the reformed doctrine use these verses to bolster one of their main concepts. This verse supports the doctrine of “unconditional election”. Unconditional election means that God has chosen a remnant of people before the foundations of the world to be his adopted sons and daughters. For people who are already saved, do you secretly suspect that God chose you because you deserve? Do you think some people’s behavior is so morally corrupt that God could not possibly save them? If you ever think this way, you don’t entirely understand that salvation is through grace. It cannot be earned; it can only be accepted with thankfulness and praise.

Romans 11:5-6
5 So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. 6 And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.
