Posted by Jonathan Merigala By describing how their own enthusiasm had incited the Macedonians to give, Paul was trying to urge the Corinthians to rekindle their enthusiasm for giving. Paul wasn’t naive about human behavior. The start and end of a marathon are much more thrilling than the miles in the middle. It takes stubborn determination to keep going. Paul also knew it would take the entire community to persevere. Paul was sending Titus and two other believers to the Corinthians to encourage them.
2 Corinthians 9:1-2
There is no need for me to write to you about this service to the Lord’s people. 2 For I know your eagerness to help, and I have been boasting about it to the Macedonians, telling them that since last year you in Achaia were ready to give; and your enthusiasm has stirred most of them to action.
