In verses three to four, Paul reminds us to steadfastly share the gospel. The gospel is open and is revealed to everyone, except those who refuse to believe. Satan is “the god of the age.” His work is to deceive, and he has blinded those who do not believe in Jesus Christ. The allure of pleasure, power, and money blinds people to the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Those who reject Christ as the only way and prefer their own pursuits have indirectly made Satan their god.

In verse five, Paul explains the focal point of preaching. When we witness, we must never incorporate our accomplishments as something we have achieved, but rather point people back to Christ by describing that our achievements were enabled through the grace and mercy of God. Then and only then we will exalt the name of God and praise him where he deserves it. Once we minister, we just stand back and let the Holy Spirit cut through an unbeliever’s heart of stone and bring them back into the family of God.

2 Corinthians 4:3-5
3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.
